In just 3 short months, Royal Caribbean International will be debuting its latest mega-ship, the Oasis of the Seas. While Royal has been working for many years to bring unique entertainment offerings to its passengers, this latest vessel has an at sea first that is sure to change the way cruise ship entertainment is thought of for years to come.
At
the aft end of the Oasis of the Seas sits AquaTheater, the first amphitheater at sea, which features the largest and deepest pool at sea, with 3m and 10m diving boards, and even trampolines, that are used for the variety of entertainment offerings that will take place there. The amphitheater Additionally, passengers with staterooms at the aft end of the ship, whose rooms have balconies, will have private views of the shows.AquaTheater’s main attraction will be its two dive shows, “Oasis of Dreams” and “Splish Splash”. “Oasis of Dreams”, will be a nighttime spectacular featuring champion divers, synchronized swimmers, and gymnasts. The show will also allow the technical aspects of the theater to shine through, featuring synchronized fountains, along with state-of-the-art lighting and special effects. “Splish Splash” will bring a light-hearted atmosphere to the AquaTheater, featuring Olympic-style diving, and comedic poolside antics that will appeal to the whole family.
During non-show times, the AquaTheater will remain an attraction for passengers to enjoy. In the evenings the pools fountains will perform choreographed shows, set to lights and music.
The addition of the AquaTheater to the Oasis of the Seas is a clear indication that Royal Caribbean is very serious about entertainment and raising the bar on their ships. As we get closer to the maiden voyage of the Oasis of the Seas it will be very exciting to see what else Royal has planned for its newest and biggest ship.
